Driving collaborative solutions to systemic challenges
We bring together expertise to identify solutions for shared challenges, and we incubate concepts through partnerships and wrap-around support.
Across PLACE’s Listening Tour, we heard about persistent structural challenges preventing positive change: communities are excluded from decisions, funding cycles are short term, local leadership is underinvested, procurement and reporting processes are complex, and services and programs are fragmented. At the same time, there is recognition by governments and funders that these barriers can and must be addressed – and that in some contexts, change is already underway.
The work of the Collaborative Solutions team is to shift the place-based sector from isolated reform to system-wide transformation. We do this by enabling more consistent, accessible and empowering approaches to funding and decision-making, and by championing policy and procurement changes that simplify access and sustain investment in backbone infrastructure.
Collaborative Solutions has also participated in a wide range of speaking events, roundtables and inquiries. All of these have provided the opportunity to call for equitable and scalable reform.
Our work will help forge a way forward where systems are built to support rather than stifle community leadership in tackling complex and persistent disadvantage.
Community participation in the design and delivery of programs that target community priorities will lead to impactful, place-based change.
We are developing material that explores shared decision-making approaches which centre community voice and authority. This will include conversations with people with lived experience from all parts of the system, as well as practical guides and tools.
