When communities are given a seat at the decision-making table, transformation happens. But shared decision-making requires a shift in the ways that funders, governments, service providers and communities show up and work together.

So where do you start, and how do you navigate obstacles along the way? On June 11, 2026, PLACE hosted a practical conversation on how shared decision-making works, what it takes to put it into practice, and how to build in accountability so that the shift sticks.

The session was hosted by Jo-Anne Kelly, Executive Director of Learning the Macleay, who was joined by Luke Craven CEO, PLACE, Amy Robinson, Executive Officer of The Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project and Eugene McGarrell, General Manager of Commissioning at Sydney North PHN. The guests discussed the mechanics of shared decision-making and accountability, shared their real experiences, and answered the audience’s burning questions.

Building off our new podcast, Making Place Matter: Who Decides? and Sharing the power to make change: a guide to shared decision-making, the webinar was an excellent opportunity to hear the questions and concerns place-based practitioners hold about shared decision-making. Thank you to those that attended.
