Communities across Australia are leading powerful place‑based work. The people doing this work need the right skills, support and learning pathways to create lasting change.
PLACE has curated an archive of place-based training that aligns with the 6 PLACE skills currently available across Australia. The aim is to support practitioners to undertake training and build their capability. The archive can be found below, plus a Skills Compass Tool to help you self-assess what training you and your organisation could benefit from.
We are also offering scholarships for a select list of training. PLACE understands there are numerous barriers to access quality training, and this scholarships program will ensure any practitioners who wish to improve their capability can do so.
PLACE has also analysed the policy implications of this available training in an Analysis Paper, providing key recommendations to policymakers.
Training directory
This directory aims to help place-based initiatives access training that reflects place‑based skills; identify courses that match your needs; understand which skills each training option supports; and build a clearer learning pathway for yourself or your team.
Dive into the training options and discover learning pathways that support stronger, more confident place‑based practice.

For government, funders, philanthropists, training providers and others our Analysis Paper highlights what’s needed to build a strong, equitable and culturally grounded place‑based workforce.
