In January PLACE had the pleasure of heading to Port Pirie in South Australia to learn more about Pirie Voices, a place-based initiative working to identify local priorities and move from traditional provider-driven service models to place community at the centre of decision making.

In addition to meeting with the Pirie Voices Leadership Group and Coordinator, we met with key organisations including Port Pirie Regional Council, Department of Human Services SA, Uni Hub Spencer Gulf, Centacare Catholic Country SA and Uniting Country SA.

The energy for harnessing community voices to understand what matters most to locals was inspiring, as was their vision to shape a future that reflects what matters most to the people of Pirie.

PLACE will continue to support Pirie Voices to build a community voice and turn it into meaningful action. This will help us learn what works and share those insights with other places and practitioners.

You can find out more about Pirie Voices on their website.
